Dorel Industries, Montreal, has entered into a purchase agreement for Pacific Cycle. Pacific Cycle is a market leader in the design and marketing of bicycles and other recreational goods. The purchase by Dorels of Pacific Cycle is expected close in January.
Pacific Cycle was established in 1977 and is the nation’s number one supplier for quality bicycles. It markets, designs and imports a wide range of bicycles and recreational products under the brands Schwinn and GT, Mongoose and Mongoose Pro. Pacific Cycle has its headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin and offices in Olney (Illinois) and Lake Forest (California). It has distribution centers located in Olney, Illinois and Vacaville in California. There is also a design/test centre in Longmont, Colorado.
Pacific Cycle purchased Mongoose and Roadmaster from Mongoose in 2000 and Schwinn and GT from GT in 2001.
Dorel Industries markets and distributes home and juvenile furnishing products worldwide.
Pacific Cycle will operate as a separate Dorel division. This acquisition offers many opportunities to strengthen Pacific Cycles position in the market as a consumer products brand with top-quality sourcing and distribution. With the additional resources Dorel offers, we will continue to grow.
